In Jewish tradition we wish each other “A Sweet Year”. Sweetness is not only food, sweetness is also the quality of life. Ironically sometimes we first experience friction before we arrive to a sweet resolution and reconciliation.  In Lekutei Torah -Acharei- the Alter Rebbe explains the idea of Teshuva, returning to our Father in Heaven. The Alter Rebbe asks: since G-d is everywhere, how can one be distant? How can you return if you never left? The Alter Rebbe explains the process of Teshuva - Returning by using an analogy of two people standing back to back of each other. The USA Declaration of Independence, July 4 1776, famously states “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”.  In Lekutei Torah -Tazria- the Alter Rebbe explains why the Torah says that certain punishments from Heaven are the result of not serving the Creator with joy and a happy heart.  The Alter Rebbe explains that it is not a punishment. It is just that when one removes the protective shield then consequently the person is exposed to certain dangers.
