Courage Confidence & Compassion

Giant Goliath threatened the Jews with war. Young David courageously and fearlessly emerged for a one-on-one fight. A defining moment of Jewish history. With a single stone and a slingshot David defeated giant Goliath.

One David. One slingshot. One stone.

We are all beloved and empowered by our father in heaven. All we need is to act fearlessly with courage and faith. To cherish the power of a single good deed. Even one Mitzvah. One good deed can win it for all of us. As Rambam - Maimonides states, one good deed can tip the global scale and bring peace and redemption, miracles and salvation to the entire world. The “giant” challenges of life can be defeated with one good deed.

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) Your soul is a part of G-d. You are empowered to transform darkness into light. Infusing the physical world with Divine holiness. Evil, negativity and pain are the result of exile. All of physical reality is merely a manifestation of the spiritual reality of heaven. Change the heavenly and automatically you change the physical. The Talmud teaches that the exile of the Jewish people from our Holy Land Israel and the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem was because of the sin of baseless hatred.  With unity and Ahavat Yisroel - unconditional love for your fellow Jew, we heal the world of it’s darkness and pain. Hastening Moshiach. A world of light, peace and happiness.

2) Moses received the Torah on Mount Sinai. The mountain of Sinai was chosen because it is the smallest of all the mountains. If the point is to emphasize humility then why not a valley? The low mountain symbolizes that a Jew needs both. Humility and simultaneously to stand tall and strong as a mountain. To safeguard Torah Jewish values. To live with Jewish pride. To cherish and protect Jewish life, Jewish heritage and Jewish continuity.

3) Moses was a shepherd. One day he noticed that a lone sheep was missing. it couldn’t keep up with the group. It was tired. Moses went back and compassionately carried the sheep. At that moment G-d chose  Moses to be the Jewish leader. Because Moses demonstrated sensitivity and caring for even one lost sheep. Leadership is to genuinely care for the individual. Only then does one qualify as a leader. Every person is born to be a leader. Inspiring our environment with compassion and kindness. You can be the leader you were born to be.
