Friendship Prevention & Triumph
Connecting. It is one of the most inspiring feelings in life. Yet loneliness is a global epidemic. Young kids and teenagers spend countless hours facing computer screens and social media but they are lonely. They lack deep anchored emotional connections. Friends, family and community.
Chabad philosophy explains that we each have two primary ingredients. Body and soul. The body yearns for physical pleasure. Our soul yearns for meaningful connection. 3300 years of Jewish heritage and tradition is rich with soul connections and rituals.
From the weekly Friday night Shabbat meal, where from early childhood we enjoy family time together, to holiday celebrations which revolve around the family. From our daily prayers connecting us with our father in heaven, to the emphasis on inviting guests, love your fellow, honoring parents, visiting the sick or helping those in need and yearn for a warm smile. All are meaningful connections.
Prayer in Hebrew is Teffila. The Rebbe explains that Teffila comes from the word Tofel. To connect. When we concentrate and meditate on the unconditional love our father In heaven has for each one of us, on the blessings we each have in life, then we develop a meaningful connection with our father our creator. Then prayer is not a forced religious obligation. Prayer is enjoyed as a cherished time when our soul is connecting with our father in heaven.
Chassidic heritage has a heartwarming tradition of Chassidim sitting together and connecting. Singing inspirational songs which express the different feelings of the soul, sharing heartfelt life-enriching messages of Torah. Words of inspiration. Strengthening our bonds of friendship and celebrating our proud heritage. Raising a little cup of wine or schnapps wishing each other Lchayim To Life!
This powerful setting is called a Farbrengen.
"What a Chassidic Farbrengen can accomplish, even the angle Michael can not acomplish". Try it. You will enjoy it. Join a Farbrengen at any of the Rebbe’s 4000 Chabad House locations around the globe. Sing a song of inspiration, warm your soul, raise your cup and wish your fellow Lchayim as your fellow “Farbrengers” wish you a life of blessing. You may have your deepest prayers answered.
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) "Love your fellow like yourself" is an interpretation of and commentary on "Love Hashem your G‑d." He who loves his fellow-Jew loves G‑d, because the Jew has within himself a "part of G‑d Above." Therefore, when one loves the Jew - i.e. his inner essence - one loves G‑d. (Hayom Yom 12 Av)
There are three loves. The love of G-d, the love of Torah and the love for your fellow Jew. One can not separate these three loves. If one rejects a Jew, any Jew, then one is rejecting G-d and Torah. Because G-d is infinite therefore your soul which is a part of G-d is infinite. Your potential is infinite. Your value is Infinitely rich. You can overcome any challenge. You can rise to unlimited heights. All you have to do is be the real you. Unleash your true infinite self.
2) Education. When a child is taught that crime is wrong because the police punish for committing a crime, then the child behaves only when the police officer is watching . But when a child is taught that life is a gift from the creator and crime is a violation of the creator’s will and the creator is always watching you, “There is an eye that sees and an ear that listens”, then the child grows up to be a good and law abiding citizen. Because rooted within the child are good values, character and morals.
Prevention is when we don’t allow a vacuum. Because when there is a vacuum it’s difficult to control what will be pulled in. A child who has empty hours of time has a vacuum. Fill time with meaning. Educate children with faith and values. Give the child direction and purpose-of-existence and we will have a better world and happy children.
3) The common English translation of Teshuva Is “Repentance”. But it’s incorrect. Teshuva means to “Return”, not repent. Our loving father in heaven desires our returning home, the return of his children. It’s primarily not about continuous focus on the mistakes of the past. It’s about celebrating a productive, good and happy future.
Focusing on negativity will bring a person down. The sign of life is to grow and develop. Kinder and better. When traveling, one may encounter obstacles and boulders. You then have a choice. Either stop and quit or climb the boulder and reach even higher. When you focus on the good, on the positive, you will stop seeing obstacles, you will see opportunities. An exile mindset is to see the obstacles. A Freedom-Moshiach mindset is to see the opportunities. To usher in a world of Moshiach. A world of peace, unity and joy.
