Pleasure Maximization and Meaning

Hi

Wishing you Gut Shabbos

Candle Lighting February 7 NY Metro - 12 Shvat 5:00

Life often revolves around cause and effect. Our soul is concealed. The key to unlocking our soul is “pleasure”. When we enjoy something then we develop a wanting for it which then triggers our intellectual mind to go figure out a plan of action.

Chabad philosophy explains:

If we want to inspire a child to change their behavior it is better to trace their behavior back to the  original “cause” which is the source of the “effect”.  The source is the “pleasure” motivating the behavior. Arguing “intellectually” may not be effective. Change the “cause” by uploading a new positive “pleasure” and you will automatically change the “effect”.

Often we encounter people who intellectually question certain aspects of Judaism. Invest your time in creating a “Jewish Pleasure Experience” and everything else may follow on it’s own.

Lubavitch is the name of the town in White Russia where the Chabad movement resided for more then one hundred years. “Lubavitch” means the “town of love”.

When the Rebbe accepted the Chabad Lubavitch leadership 70 years ago he said:  The foundation of Chabad philosophy is the three inseparable loves. The love of G-d. The love of Torah. The love of the Jewish people.

Love your fellow unconditionally and you will see that the arguments will disappear and the pleasure of Yiddishkeit can surface. Remember: logical arguments are not always the “key”. The original “cause” and “key”  is “pleasure”.

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) Our world is the garden of the creator. A garden should be maximized to it’s fullest potential. If we can grow delicious fruits and beautiful plantings we shouldn’t be satisfied with simple plantings. So too is In our personal life. If we can produce beautiful results we shouldn’t be satisfied with easy simple achievements. Maximize your full potential.

2) Education is to inspire the young generation to embrace Jewish heritage and tradition so it becomes their personal desired way of life. Their relationship with the creator should become their own personal connection. We can not be satisfied by just teaching the young generation to keep tradition only because it is what their parents and grandparents did. Let’s educate wisely.

3) We should ask ourselves “what contribution does the creator want from me”.  Not “what do we want from the creator”. By recognizing that our life has real purpose and real meaning it empowers us to overcome challenges. It is better to focus on what is needed from us then focusing on what we need. Leadership is to focus on the goal. Be a leader.
