Aristocracy Birthdays & Motivation

Hi

Wishing you Gut Shabbos

Candle Lighting February 14 - Shvat 19 NY Metro 5:08pm

The dictionary is full with powerful words of description. Words like aristocracy regality nobility royalty etc. command a unique respect.

A true role model is someone who embodies the virtues of Torah Jewish values. The Rebbe and his wife the Rebbetzin are our spiritual Mother and Father. The ultimate personification of the above descriptions.

The Hillula-Yohrtzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson 1901-1988 is the 22nd of Shvat.(corresponding to Monday Febuary 17) Our Mother of Royalty sacrificed her personal needs for the benefit of world Jewry. The thousands of children around the globe who carry the Rebbetzin’s name are privileged to have such an honor.

From her childhood in the dark days of Russia and communism to her courageous leadership assisting her father the previous Rebbe in keeping the flame of Judaism shining brightly across the former Soviet Union in the face of life threatening danger. The Rebbetzin with her aristocratic leadership and regal presence  devoted her life for the benefit of world Jewry. We owe her more then we can ever give back.

The Rebbetzin told the story of her grandfather the Rebbe Rashab. As a child  he was once playing with his older brother the Razo.  They were playfully digging a pit to cover one child’s legs with sand and then the other would help dig the other out of the pit.

Suddenly when  the younger brother was in the pit the older brother refused to help his younger brother out of the pit. Upon hearing his cry their father the Rebbe Maharash instructed the older brother to help his younger brother out of the pit and then they should both come inside the home to talk to their father.

The father the Rebbe Maharash asked the older brother “why did you leave your younger brother’s feet in the pit? The older boy answered “because I am older but he is taller”. So by keeping his feet in the pit I became the taller one.

The Rebbe Maharash responded: “If you want to become taller then take a chair and climb higher. No need to bury the other’s feet in order to become taller”.

Yes. In life we should aspire to be higher and grow in the path of the holy and good . But not by knocking someone else down. Rather by working our way up the latter and genuinely earning our growth and success.

The Rebbe writes regarding the Shpoler Zeide that every conduct of a righteous person should  inspire us. May we always be inspired to grow in a positive way. And together let us honor Our Mother of Royalty with Torah study and a Mitzvah. With acts of goodness and kindness. Hastening a world peace and Divine wisdom with Moshiach Now.

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) Resurrection. Every member of the Jewish people has a share in the world to come and those who passed away will be resurrected and come back to life in a healthy physical body. Because the essence of the soul of a Jew is connected to the essence of G-d and transcends faults. Even transgressions of Torah law do not blemish the essence of the Jew.  G-d’s love for every Jew is eternal.

2) Birthdays are a time of renewal and blessing. The Mazel of the individual is strengthened on each birthday. We aspire to maximize the gift of life. Utilizing  every moment and every opportunity for the good. On your birthday invite friends and family and make a birthday celebration which inspires more Torah study Prayer and the performance of Mitzvot. The participants should all give charity. The host should announce a new good resolution inspiring others to grow.

3) Motivation. The first of the Ten Commandments is to know G-d who took you out of Egypt. From slavery mentality. Freedom is something which nobody can take away from you. You have the power to choose to create a mindset of freedom. Including the freedom to not be distracted by improper desires and the freedom to happily connect with our loving Heavenly Father. When we recognize that everything comes from the creator then you are empowered with unlimited potential.
