Flames Meaning and Celebration

Candle Lighting March 6 - Adar 10 NY Metro 5:32pm

You are a beautiful flame!

When a teenager throws a baseball the teenager knows that gravity will cause the ball to fall to the ground.  Yet a flame defies gravity and flickers upwards. The flame tirelessly  strives to reach higher.

Why?

King Solomon says in Proverbs  20:27 “The candle (flame) of G-d is the soul of man”. The soul is compared to a candle-flame which always yearns to connect to it’s source.

The famous Holocaust surviver Dr. Victor Frankel speaks of man’s search for meaning.
In Chabad philosophy this is because the soul is searching for purpose and meaning in life.

Regarding the lighting of the Menorah G-d  says to Moses “You should command the children of Israel to bring to you pure olive oil crushed for illumination”

The Torah empowers Moses to command. Because Moses is the faithful shepherd who brings out the best in each of us. Including strengthening our faith and lighting up our soul to yearn and to connect to our infinite creator. The Zohar teaches that the Rebbe of each generation represents Moses.

Fortunate our we all to have a Rebbe who helps us bring out the best in us. For us to recognize the unlimited power our Father in Heaven has endowed us with. You are infinitely important and your life mission is to light up your environment with the flame of the commandments and the light of Torah.

You are a G-d  appointed Ambassoder on earth to bring light happiness hope and inspiration to all who know you. You are a walking Menorah. Unleash your power and be all you can be.

G-d trusts you and is investing in you. Don’t allow outsiders to distract you. If not you then who? If not now then when? You have the power to help the world and bring Moshiach.

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) A single action is better than a thousand groans. G‑d is eternally alive and Torah and Mitzvot are eternal. Cease the groaning and invest the hard effort to do good deeds and G‑d will be gracious to you. You will be blessed. You are a beloved child of our Father in Heaven.

2) We must know that we each are an emissary of the Master of all Will. We are soldiers empowered with the mission that wherever we may be we must actualize G‑d's will and intention in creating the universe. To illuminate the world with the light of Torah and the hard work of good deeds.  Implanting  in ourselves fine character traits.

3) Purim is the 14th of the Hebrew month Adar (corresponding to Tuesday March 10) Purim G-d reveals his infinite love for us which transcends all logic and reason. Therefore we celebrate with unlimited joy and by sharing with our friends gifts of food and charity for the poor. Help especially someone who is sad and hurting. True joy includes rising above pettiness. Inspire others and you will be blessed with happiness.
