Good Thoughts Bring Good Results!

King  Solomon says: “A man's spirit will sustain his illness, but a broken spirit-who will bear it?” -Proverbs 18:14-

The great sages and commentators explain  that our mind thoughts and mood affect our health and the ability of our body to overcome a health challenge. Their wisdom encourages us to be happy and think positive thoughts.

Maimonides states that happiness is a prerequisite for healing. In a letter translated recently from Arabic to Hebrew Maimonides tells us to sing for a sick person happy songs and tell jokes of laughter and visits of good friends. Because strengthening  the human spirit is a prerequisite to healing the body.

In Chabad there is a famous Yiddish saying:     “Tracht Gut Vet Zein Gut”. Think Good and It Will Be Good!

Our positive thinking and good thoughts will cause it to be good!

The Rebbe explains that this is because when we show unwavering trust in G-d then we merit to receive blessings even if we may not have earned it.

“Faith vs Trust”. Faith is to believe that G-d can help us if G-d chooses to help us. “Trust” is to feel relaxed without any worry because we trust that G-d will certainly help us. “Trust” generates a special channel of blessing as a reward for us not doubting G-d even for a moment.

Every Mitzvah and commandment we do with our body brings blessings to our physical body. From helping another person to putting on Teffilin or lighting Shabbat candles. Each time you do a Mitzvah you are literally bringing blessings upon yourself and your loved ones.

Let us help each other with unconditional love and sensitivity. With deeds of goodness and kindness. Our sages teach “Tzedokoh Charity saves from death”. Every person is a creation of G-d and deserves our love and mercy. The more we give the more blessings we receive.

So let’s boost our happy spirits. Be strong and ”Trust” in G-d. The more we are happy the better it will be.
