Renewal Health & Leadership

Hi wishing you Gut Shabbos

Candle Lighting March 13 - Adar 17 NY Metro 6:40pm

On a  visit this year to Jerusalem standing on the Mount of Olives an inspiring  thought came to mind. On this very mountain more then two thousand years ago the Red Heifer was burnt and the ashes of this unique and totally red cow was sprinkled with water on the impure person who then became ritually pure and could enter the Holy Temple.

The scenery is royal gorgeous and majestic. The feelings of elation and inspiration are indescribable. You are looking directly at the holiest place on earth. The Temple Mount.

You are seeing the spot where Adam and Eve were created. Where Abraham brought Issac and where Jacob had his famous dream.  On this same exact spot stood the Temple Alter which brought humanity forgiveness. Our prayers which were meticulously formulated by our sages are a substitute and have the power of the Alter.

There the representative of every Jewish household brought a Passover sacrifice which was eaten in Jerusalem  that same night at the Pesach Seder. The original "Hillel sandwich" of roasted lamb and Matzah with Maror. The Seder nights when the united Jewish family celebrates our love and gratitude to our loving Father in Heaven for saving us from slavery in Egypt.

It is heartwarming and uplifting to read the upcoming Haftorah of "Parah" about purification in preparation and commemoration of the Passover lamb and G-d's promise of happy good news for the Jewish people as told in Ezekiel chapter 36:

"I will take you from among the nations and gather you from all the countries and I will bring you to your land. And  I will sprinkle clean water upon you and you will be clean from all your impurities and from all your abominations will I cleanse you".

"And I will put My spirit within you and bring it about that you will walk in My statutes and you will keep My ordinances and do them. Then will you dwell in the land that I gave your fathers and you will be a people to Me and I will be to you as a G-d".

Wow!

How fortunate and lucky are we to own our inherited rich and beautiful Jewish tradition.  In todays challenging times let us inspire ourselves and encourage our fellow to think positive. Never to surrender to negativity. Never to loose hope. To be kind to each other. Together as one family and one people we hold strong in our faith and trust in G-d and together we shall overcome.

Let's celebrate knowing that the Rebbe told us Moshiach is on the way and your one good deed of goodness and kindness can expedite it bringing health and peace to all of humanity. You can be the world's hero!

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) The prophet Ezekiel says in chapter 36 "And I will give you a new heart and a new spirit will I put within you and I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh and I will give you a heart of flesh". A heart of stone is cold and clogged. A heart of a Jew is warm and pulsates with kindness caring and spirituality. When we study Chabad teachings we taste the wisdom of the inner dimension of Torah and we gain joy health and happiness. It empowers us to forgive the past and enthusiastically embark on a happy future.

2) When G-d asked Adam what is your name Adam answered: "Because I was created from earth mixed with water therefore it is fitting I should be called Adam which means in Hebrew earth mixed with water.  "Adamah". Water brings unity. Dry individual particles of sand unite together when mixed with water. Therefore water and a Mikve are a source of life because it refers to uniting humanity with the creator who is the source of life.

"Teshuva" (does not mean repentance. It means) "returning to G-d" and strengthens our unity with our creator who is the source of life  and  "Teshuva" increases our physical health and adds life.

(Based on the Rebbe's talk at the  Shiva of Mrs. Yehudis Bas Reb Menachem Mendel Butman winter 1960. Yortzeit 18 Adar)

3) Moses was the paradigm of Jewish leadership. Even when the Jews sinned and worshiped the golden calf Moses our "Faithful Shepard" defended his beloved people which cost him a personal price. Moses gave G-d an ultimatum. "Forgive them or erase my name from your book".

Moses successfully defended even sinners and idol worshippers! Because of Moses we were forgiven. Let us emulate Moses and not be judgmental.  Let's be forgiving. Love your fellow unconditionally.  Even if we pay a personal price! This is authentic Jewish leadership. There is a spark of Moses in every Jew. You were born to be a leader.
