Passover Candle Lighting April 14 NY Metro 7:17pm. April 15 Candle Lighting is after 8:18pm
Hi
April 15 and outside of Israel also April 16, are the final two days of Passover. 3300 hundred years ago on the 7th day of Passover, the Jewish people walked thru the miraculously split sea.
When the Egyptians regretted freeing the Jews from slavery, they pursued them. The Jews were trapped between the powerful Egyptian army and the Red Sea. No escape route.
Four opinions and camps arose in perhaps our first national Jewish debate: War. Surender. Throw themselves into the sea. Prayer.
The Jews were commanded by G-d one word. “Vyiso-uh” Keep moving!
Moses raised his staff and split the sea. Suddenly millions of Jews became
eye-witnesses as the sea split. The impossible happened. The Jews triumphed as the cruel Egyptians who came in hot pursuit, drowned.
The Jews inherited the Egyptian riches. Moses sang with the men. His sister Miriam sang with the women, songs of praise to our loving Father in Heaven. Thanksgiving for their miraculous survival.
Till this very day, in our daily morning prayers, the Jew recites these beautiful songs of praise. We don’t forget the kindness which
G-d did for the Jewish nation. We are not narcissistic, arrogant and selfish. We humbly give credit and appreciation. It’s the Jewish way.
This Wednesday, April 15, is the 7th day of Passover. Jews around the world will celebrate these miracles. Share the Jewish story with the young generation. Tell them about their beautiful heritage.
Inspire our people with love, enthusiasm and pride. Jews of diaspora have a bonus day. April 16 is the 8th day. To celebrate, cherish and rejoice. It’s part of the secret of Jewish continuity.
The Baal Shemtov instituted the “Meal Of Moshiach”. On the afternoon of the 8th day of Passover. The Rebbe encourages us to drink four cups of wine at this special meal to strengthen are faith and readiness for Moshiach Now.
As the Rebbe said to a TV reporter “Moshiach is ready to come Now. It is only on our part to do something additional in the realm of goodness and kindness”
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) If heaven forbid you think it’s all over. All is lost. When you feel like giving up, remember: the Jew never gives up. We successfully march forward. Even when facing a seemingly insurmountable “sea”.
Because the moment you demonstrate your faith in G-d, the sea splits. Not only do you survive, you thrive. You inherit the riches which were hidden. Don’t be afraid. You are never alone. G-d is always with you. The greater the “sea” the greater the miracle. This is the Jewish response to challenges. Try it. It works
2) The sea represents “concealment”. When we courageously jump in, we discover a new reality which was always there. It’s just that now we revealed it. It is the “revelation” of the hidden treasures.
Life in Judaism is about splitting the sea. Revealing the concealed. At the moment of creation G-d hid and concealed the intrinsic holiness and goodness of the world. We are all leaders who were chosen and handpicked to uncover and reveal. To courageously jump in.
We have absolute trust in our loving Father in Heaven that He will catch us as we jump. He will split the sea. Because that’s what a loving father does for his children. So don’t be afraid. March forward fearlessly. G-d is waiting to perform for you the miracles you have been waiting for.
3) On the 8th day of Passover we read the famous beautiful prophecy of the prophet Isaiah. “And a wolf shall live with a lamb, and a leopard shall lie with a kid; and a calf and a lion cub and a fatling [shall lie] together, and a small child shall lead them”.
It’s a biblical description of the times of Moshiach. A world healed of sickness, war and jealousy, with universal peace and harmony. As Maimonides concludes his magnum opus “Then the world will be filled with knowledge of G-d like waters cover the sea.
On the 7th day, we are empowered to split the “sea”. Whatever your personal sea may be. You can reveal your hidden treasures. Discover your talents and your abilities. You will happily discover victory, happiness and celebration
May we all merit to split the “sea”. Celebrating, dancing and rejoicing in good health with the revelation of Moshiach Now!
