Hi
Wishing you Gut Shabbos
Candle Lighting Time June 5 - 13 Sivan NY Metro: 8:03pm
Before a soul comes down into this world, the Talmud says, an oath is administered:
“Be a Tzadik- Righteous and do not be wicked -Ro’Sho- and even if the whole world tells you that you are righteous, you should still see yourself as if you are a wicked Ro’sho“.
In the first chapter of Tanya, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the founder of Chabad - known as The Alter Rebbe- asks what is the meaning of this oath.
The Alter Rebbe explains in chapter 27 of Tanya: The average person struggles and is supposed to subdue the evil forces who try to influence us to sin, to force them to be under the control of holiness.
It is like the two types of “Delicacies“. 1) Sweet foods. 2) Sharp and sour foods. Every time we push away evil and subdue the evil forces, we are giving our Father In Heaven the most precious gift He desires: “Spicy Delicacies”.
Therefore, the oath empowers us: Do not be discouraged if you struggle with impure thoughts like an “evil person”. Because by choosing to be holy, we are giving G-d the greatest pleasures!
You are a hero! Your spiritual journey may include fighting the forces of evil. Yet every single time we make the correct decision, we are transforming darkness into light, bitter into sweet, bad into good
Our victories against the evil forces are preparing the world for Moshiach, when the world will be rid of all evil forces and we will enjoy the fruits of our labor. We will see with our eyes the great achievements of our heroic victories.
May you be blessed with revealed good, in good health and happy spirits. May your good deeds, tip the scale and we will all merit to see a world of peace and harmony with Moshiach Now!
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) Cherish criticism, for it will place you on the true heights.
2) The world is in need of a purified atmosphere. Purified air comes only through words of Torah. Words of Torah offer protection in general and for each individual in particular.
3) There are 3 Loves: 1) Love of G‑d. 2) Love of the Torah. 3) Love of the Jewish people. They are bound up with one another as one. Only when you love your fellow as yourself are you able to love G‑d.
