The story of Noach and the flood, is one of the most famous biblical stories. But Torah is not a “Story Book” and therefore the story is really meant to teach us and help us in our own life.
Life can be compared to traveling in a rain storm. Sometimes we seem to be struggling with all the surrounding pressures.
The solution is to be like Noach and enter a “Safe Arc”. We protect ourselves by entering a “safety zone”. A shelter. Here we are safe from the outside pressures, storms and instability.
There are journeys of the body and there are journeys of the soul. Our soul which is a part of G-d, is a princess and comes down into our body when we are born. Our soul finds herself in a storm. The “waters”, the temptations and challenges of life, threaten the safety and purity of our holy soul.
The solution is to enter an “Arc”. A place where our soul is protected from the storms. Since our soul is not physical, it is logical that the “Arc” for the soul is also not physical.
The words of Torah and prayer are the “Arc” and safeshelters for our soul. When our soul is surrounded by the holiness of the letters of Torah, then no forces can negatively impact our soul’s purity. Our Jewish values remain healthy and protected.
Even If we have at least a few minutes a day of focused prayer and Torah study, this gives us the protection to ensure that our soul does not drown in the sea of storms and temptations.
Today more then ever we must ensure we are safe from storms which can stain our soul. We must make sure that every child is given the tools to deal with the storms and temptations of life. A Torah education. Jewish values. A Siddur Prayer-Book. Holy Jewish books, to nourish and protect our mind and soul.
No storm in the world can extinguish the love of our soul to our Father in Heaven. Every Jew is holy and pure. As King Solomon sings in Song of Songs: “Many waters cannot quench the love, nor can rivers flood it”.
Let us appreciate the beauty of our soul. The princess inside of us. Celebrate her and give her all the happiness and sweetness of a meaningful life, filled with priceless treasures of Torah, Prayer and good deeds.
May you be blessed with good health and happiness, with success in your soul’s journey in life.
You were born for greatness and our loving Father in Heaven is eagerly waiting to hug you and protect you.
Celebrate and maximize your true self. You are a precious gift from heaven!
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) You were created to be successful in your personal journey of life. You are here to serve our loving Farher in Heaven to the best of your personal ability. Don’t worry if someone else is achieving more. You only have to maximize your own potential. G-d loves your efforts in trying to do the best you can do.
2) Noach did not try to save the people from the flood. He was pious but only took care of his own. We must embrace and inspire every child and adult with the priceless gift of Torah and Chassidus. Especially in our generation it is lifesaving. Assimilation and ignorance are a threat. You have the power to be a Soul-Saver.
3) In Israel, until the 7th of Cheshvan they refrain from praying for rain. So that all those who were returning home from their pilgrimage to Jerusalem were not rained upon. This gives us a special power and opportunity to joylessly launch are personal new year until the 7th of Cheshvan. Take advantage and maximize your talents and opportunities. It will bring you blessing and happiness.
