Chanukah Rejuvenation & Resilience
Hi
Wishing you Gut Shabbos. Shabbat Shalom & Happy Chanukah
Candle Lighting December 11 - 25 Kislev New York Metro 4:08pm
Chanukah 1977 as the children filled the Rebbe’s Shul at 770, the Rebbe said to the children:
מען דארף זיך צוהערן צו וואס די ליכטעלאך דערציילן
- We must listen to what the candles are telling us!
The Chanukah candles remind us that we all have a holy candle of light shining inside of us. In the words of King Solomon in Proverbs 20: 27 - נר ה’ נשמת אדם- The candle of G-d is the soul of man.
Nothing can destroy, nor contaminate, the purity of our soul. Even if we made past mistakes, our soul remains pure and holy. You can always shine beautifully with purity.
The Menorah is lit when the sun sets. Even if life feels like the “sun is setting”. Even if it seems dark, gloom and doom. We always have our special personal candle which shall shine forever brightly. You are unstoppable. We can transform darkness into light.
Chanukah is a time to rededicate ourselves to the education of our children. To ensure that every child receives a pure and proper Jewish education. Every child is a gift and deserves happiness and blessings.
The Rebbe asks that we should give the children Chanukah Gelt every day of Chanukah. We inspire and educate the child to give a portion of the money to charity.
Chanukah shows us how to live a happy life. To add a new candle every day. To always grow. Not to stagnate. Increasing our light and accomplishments every day. By doing our share, we merit to receive blessings and miracles.
May you be blessed with long life filled with light and happiness. To successfully maximize your potential and the light of your own candle, in good health and happy spirit.
Wishing you a Happy Chanukah!
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) If a person feels they lack the strength to defeat a culture of temptations and challenges to our faith and principles: Chanukah shows us how a small minority and courageous army of Chashmonaim defeated the “powerful army” of secular culture. You have the power and strength to live a happy Jewish life and be victorious.
2) Oil is compared to wisdom. It floats on the top, higher then everything else. Oil comes from the hidden inside of the olive. Yet oil permeates everything with which it makes contact. Happiness is when our life is permeated with the wisdom and light of Torah. Especially with the hidden wisdom of Chassidus.
3) The Jews were permitted to light the Menorah with contaminated oil. But they refused to accept anything which was touched or influenced by the Hellenists. In appreciation G-d performed the 8 day miracle. When we defend Jewish values with courage against all forces of assimilation, we see miracles.
