Joy Miracles & Motivation

Joy is a miraculous and powerful cure. Joy can overturn punishment to sweetness. The Torah tells us “Because you did not serve the Lord, your G-d with happiness and with gladness of heart, when [you had an] abundance of everything, therefore you will serve your enemies”.

The Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman asks in Likutei Torah (Tazria 40) why such a bitter punishment even if one serves G-d but only lacks happiness? To understand this the Alter Rebbe quotes King Solomon’s words in Koheles “There is no righteous person on earth who does not sin”.

Our soul is a holy princess.  A sin stains the beauty of the royal garments of the soul. Therefore the “punishment” is really a cleansing process needed to cleanse the dirt and “shmutz” of the sin.  The good news is we are given an amazing gift. The power to cancel the “cleansing” by being happy and serving G-d with joy.

If a soldier chooses to remove his bulletproof vest, then naturally a bullet can hurt the soldier. It’s not a punishment, it is simply a natural consequence. The soldier is in full control of his choice to decide if he wants the benefit of wearing a bulletproof vest as a shield of protection.

A Kosher Mezuzah in a sense can be compared to a bulletproof vest. G-d is not necessarily  punishing an individual who doesn’t have a proper Kosher Mezuzah or Teffilin. Without the special protection of Mezuzah or Teffilin there is no shield of protection.

Happiness and joy have the power to “sweeten the decree of judgment”. To overturn punishment into blessings. As the Alter Rebbe says: “Great is the power of Simcha - Happiness, it arouses happiness in Heaven by G-d. For in the light of the king’s face there is life!”

So let’s increase our joy and happiness. It’s a win win!  It’s good for our physical health, mind body and soul and it brings positivity and blessing. It protects us from “cleansing” and makes our loving Father in Heaven happy!

if we our hurting or going thru a difficult situation, the best cure is to be happy! G-d enjoys happiness, and when we are happy He blesses us with special blessings and protection and makes life sweet.

Wishing you only revealed good! May you be blessed to always enjoy the beauty of life, maximizing  the purpose of creation with good health, joy and happiness!

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) The world is the beautiful garden of our loving Father in Heaven. Do not look at the world with a negative view. Every good deed plants another beautiful fruit which lives on for eternity and hastens the coming of Moshiach. Think positive and celebrate with joy each opportunity you have to plant eternal fruit in the royal garden.

2) Peace with others, especially friends and family is a most important foundation in life.  Peace is often achieved thru flexibility. Our sages teach us “a person should always be flexible like a soft twig and not hard like a stick of cedar”. Be willing to forgive and forgo stubborn opinions. Peace is the key and the vessel to receive blessings.

3) Between Pesach - Passover and Shavuos  we count the 49 days in a happy countdown to the giving of the Torah and the Ten Commandants. We focus on polishing and correcting our personal character, emotions and habits. The Hebrew word for counting is Usfsartem. Which also means to shine and to sparkle. You have a beautiful soul.  Let the world see your inner beauty.
