Addictions Souls & Brides
In modern society many suffer from addictions. In Lekutei Torah 0B’haaloscho, the Alter Rebbe Rabbi Schneur Zalman, the founder of Chabad says that Prayer is key to liberating one self from addiction and bad habits.
During the exodus of Egypt, G-d came down to personally take each Jew out of the impurities of Egypt. Thru Prayer we merit that our loving Father in Heaven comes down to us personally and uplifts us and liberates us to a new and higher reality of life.
The Menorah in the Temple, with all it’s branches, flowers and base was chiseled and carved from one solid piece of gold.
The Alter Rebbe explains that the flowers represent the righteous. The base represents those who are on the “bottom”. Yet all Jews are one solid piece of gold.
Every good deed we do, as well as every negative deed which we do goes up to heaven. Sometimes the good deed of a sinner comes backdown into the body of a good person. While sometimes the negative deeds of a good person comes back down into the body of a sinner.
Therefore we should never judge anybody. We don’t believe in being judgmental! We happily embrace every Jew with sincere unconditional love. We are one people with one heart.
The Alter Rebbe explains that it is possible that the negative we are seeing in another person is actually our own personal negative deed which came back down into the body of another person. The good that we see within ourself every may be a good deed which originates from a sinner!
The Jewish people are one family! While we may be the smallest nation on earth we are certainly the largest family on earth!
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) When you are in a city or a town and you take positive action to help strengthen Yiddishkeit there, in addition to the good things which you see immediately, your efforts plant seeds which will give fruit and multiply. You never know how far reaching your efforts go. You accomplish more then what meets the eye. Holiness is unlimited. You always have the power to create an ongoing chain of goodness.
2) “Love your fellow Jew as yourself” is a Mitzvah which we accept upon ourselves every morning at the beginning of our prayers. Because the soul of every Jew is a part of our loving Father In Heaven. Therefore every Jew is your genuine and authentic brother and sister. Chassidim in the early generations would say: You must love yourself like you love your fellow!
3) You are a holy soul. Never look negatively on your self. Even if you made past mistakes. G-d loves you and He created you to maximize every moment of life and He loves you like a loving father who loves his only child unconditionally. Like a groom who travels to his bride even if she lives near a tannery. To the groom the foul smell of the tannery is transformed into a pleasant aroma. Because it reminds him that his bride lives nearby. You are G-d’s beautiful bride, celebrate your Jewish identity!
