You & The Rebbe!
The 3rd of Tamuz - this Sunday- the world will honor and observe the Hillula of the Rebbe. Many are flying in from around the globe to pray at the Rebbe’s holy resting place in Queens New York.
Judaism describes a Rebbe with the metaphor of a “Trusted Shepard” who cares for each and every one of us. His beloved flock. The Sheppard who prays to G-d for all our needs and blesses us and beseeches Heaven on our behalf. It is thru this leader, the Moses of the generation, that we receive all of our physical and spiritual needs and all of our blessings. Like a brain which nourishes every part of the body.
It is inspiring that the daily reading for this day in the Rebbe’s book Hayom Yom, reveals the beauty and priceless treasure hidden in every Jew:
"A Jewish sigh which comes as the result -Heaven forbid- of something not good physically is also a significant act of Teshuva (repentance and return to G-d). Especially a sigh due to a not good spiritual situation, is most certainly a lofty level of Teshuva. The sigh pulls one out of the depths of evil and puts him in a good place".
You may ask: If somebody is sighing " A Yiddisher Krechtz" because they lost a fortune in the stock market, then why is it considered a virtuous Teshuva and return to our loving Father in Heaven? The fellow is sighing because he is hurting, he is focused on the pain of his financial loss on Wall Street. What does this have to do with anything holy and spiritual?
Perhaps we may understand this based on the Rebbe’s teachings regarding the preciousness of every Jew.
The Rebbe teaches: Every Jew is the child of G-d. You have a part of G-d inside of you. You have a Divine Soul. A Neshomo. At your core essence and at your deepest level of existence, you are holy, beautiful and G-dly. The rest is an external facade. Your body is a cover. Your past mistakes and wrongdoings do not diminish the value of your underlying inherent precious diamond. You are priceless and beautiful.
Let's imagine a golden pot filled with liquid gold! The moment there is a crack in the wall of the pot, the expensive liquid gold begins to pour out. If there is a crack in the wall of a hardened steel safe where diamonds are kept, then the shining light and reflection of the diamonds begin to shine and sparkle through the crack.
Since the essence of every Jew is a precious diamond and a holy soul, therefore even if the “crack” of the outside “shell -the physical dimension- cracked because of the pain of a physical or financial loss, nevertheless, the crack automatically allows the hidden diamond, our inner beauty to shine through the cracks. The "crack" allows the soul to return to her true state and identity.
It is irrelevant as to why the shell cracked. The bottom line is, the sigh caused a “crack” and the diamond inside of you suddenly shines brightly. The beautiful flame of your soul is revealed.
It is heartwarming and inspiring that for His holy special day, 3 Tamuz, the Rebbe chose to teach us that even our pain is meaningful and priceless. Even if our sigh is caused by physical issues, nevertheless it is a Teshuva. Because the essence of each and every single one of us is holy, beautiful and priceless. You are a diamond.
The Rebbe loves you! The Rebbe cares for you!
Like a Trusted Shepard. As the previous Rebbe said: “ A Rebbe loves you more then a mother to a child”.
In honor of the Rebbe, let’s do something special. Let’s maximize our potential. Reveal your beautiful diamond. Live as you were designed to be: Beautiful and Holy. Help your fellow with goodness and kindness.
The Rebbe is waiting for you! The Rebbe believes in you!
3 teachings based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) The last paragraph of Rambam - Maimonides code of Jewish law, describes the times of Moshiach: “The world will be filled with the knowledge of the Creator like the waters fill the sea. Just like the oceans are covered with water but beneath it is a vast world of marine life, so too, does every Jew have a rich world of Divine beauty which is covered by the “oceans” of life. You can live now with a Moshiach perspective, now! Unleash your potential, uncover your hidden treasures and you will help bring Moshiach Now!
2) Rambam - Maimonides begins his code of Jewish law with the commandment "To know there is a Creator". A master designer of the universe. In order to “know” we must use our intelligent mind. Judaism is not about just blind faith. When we utilize our mind then our faith reaches a much higher level. G-d gave you the gift of an intelligent mind, use it and you will happily enjoy the sweet taste of life.
3) The greatest pain of our exile is that we ourselves, on our personal level, are still in our inner exile. The definition of exile is when you’re not free to be your true self. When you are not maximizing your full potential than in essence you are in exile. All you have to do is bring in the light of our loving Father in Heaven into your personal life and you will discover your infinite potential. You are filled with infinite abilities. Open up your eyes and you will live your true freedom!
