Yom Kippur: Forgiveness Joy & Rejuvenation
Youthful energy and vigor is a pleasure. But how can we restore our purity, joy and spiritual beauty after we made mistakes and messed up?
Good news: You have the gift of Yom Kippur! The day of atonement and forgiveness. It is the holiest day of the year. It is when our inner self, our soul and our entire existences, is restored and rejuvenated. You shine as the beautiful princess.
Our sages say: “The power and essence of Yom Kippur automatically cleanses and atones”. The Rebbe explains: A child comes from the seed of the parent. On Yom Kippur, our loving Father in Heaven personally elevates us. He reveals His love and eternal connection with each of us, His beloved children.
Every Jew has five layers. Five levels of soul. On the highest and deepest level, Yechida “Oneness”, your soul never participated in sin. On this level, you were always faithful and loyal to your beloved Heavenly Father.
A parent always loves their baby. Even when the baby needs to be washed and scrubbed to remove some dirt. The “dirt and smell” do not diminish the love for the baby. In this sense, the “dirt” is non existent. Only the love for the child truly exist.
You are G-d’s beloved child. He calls you “Moshiach”. Your soul is a part of G-d. Your connection to Him is unbreakable and unconditional. On Yom Kippur we open our heart as the light of our Jewishness shines. We embrace our Heavenly Father with a hug of genuine love.
Yom Kippur paradoxically brings awe and joy. True, we are being judged. We apologize. But we are confident because the judge is our Father. He loves you. At the conclusion of the Yom Kippur prayers, we sing with joy and enthusiasm. We celebrate with a March of Victory.
Remember: You are precious, holy and spiritually beautiful! Celebrate with a Mitzvah. Your soul is waiting for you!
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) Even while a person chooses to commit a sin, the essence of your identity and your existence is united as one with G-d. Don’t allow your past mistakes to be your focus. Celebrate your opportunities and focus all your efforts on positive deeds of goodness and kindness.
2) Always remember to help your Jewish brothers and sisters. We are one people. One family. By helping others to have food and all holiday needs with dignity, by making a pledge to Charity beyond your means, you create new pathways in Heaven for your own blessings and wealth.
3) Teshuva, returning to our Heavenly Father should be done with Simcha and joy, it breaks all barriers. “Better to focus on the Rebbe” and his teachings, to be occupied with goodness and kindness, then to focus on past mistakes. Time is irreplaceable. Utilize every moment. G-d and the world urgently need you.
