There is a fascinating story about king Yerovom Ben Nevot. Historically, Yerovom broke the unity kingdom in Israel after the passing of King Solomon. Yerovom established himself as an independent king and was a sinner himself and he made the Jewish people sin. 

The Talmud in Sanhedrin records that G-d held Yerovom by his garment and gave Yerovom an amazing offer: “Return from your ways and I will stroll with you and Ben Yishei -King David- in the Garden of Eden”. 

Upon hearing G-d’s offer, Yerovom asked: who will be in front? “Mi Berosh”?  G-d answered: “Ben Yishei -King David- will be in front”. When Yerovom heard that King David will lead, Yerovom said “if so then I don’t want! (אי הכי לא בעינא). 

The Alter Rebbe explains in Torah Or 

-Vayigash- that Yerovom lacked “Bitul”. Submission. A sense of humility.  Instead of focusing on the incredible offer and opportunity of strolling with G-d in the Garden of Eden, Yerovom was focused on “who will be in front”. (מי בראש).

“Bitul - Submission” to the Divine truth is key to a happy life. The Temple in Jerusalem was built of stone which comes from the earth. Not from the wood of trees which grow tall and high. Because the Temple represents and inspires humility and submission, “Bitul” to a higher truth. Like the humility and “Bitul” of earth. When we focus on the truth, without ego, we benefit and we choose wisely. We enjoy the blessings of a happy life. 

The Talmud records that Yerovom is amongst the few individuals who do not have a share in the world to come. Yerovom’s poor choices have long term consequences.

This story gives us priceless insight:

In life we must be smart and honest. We must look ahead and choose wisely. Especially decisions which effect life, family and children. Only a selfish fool is narcissistic, stubborn and obsessed with “who will lead” -מי בראש- and they may foolishly turn down the best opportunities of a lifetime. They can loose it all. 

Every Jew inherits humility and kindness from our fore fathers. Choose wisely and you will be happy!

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) Moshe - Moses was the first Rebbe. The soul of Moses is the conduit thru which G-d gives  the flow of all blessings, vitality and sustenance. Like the brain which gives vitality to the entire body. When we connect to Moshe, the Rebbe of each generation, then we connect to G-d. 

The Talmud teaches that G-d “placed His essence in the Torah”. The same is true regarding the books of the righteous. Their life and soul are in their books. Every year on the 5th of Teves we celebrate the anniversary of the “Victory of The Books”. When the United States Federal Court decided that the books of the Previous Rebbe, are not private books. The laws of inheritance do not apply. The Rebbe and the books belong to Chassidim. 

2) Elegance is when the beauty and the “soul” of something shines. Everything in life has a “body” dimension and a “soul” dimension. Matter and form. Chabad Chassidus enables you to highlight the “form” and the “beauty” in everything, as opposed to the coarseness, physicality and materialism.

Chabad Chassidus inspires harmony between the physical and the spiritual. It is a Divine elegant world. “The world was created for you”! Celebrate it elegantly in peace and harmony. 

3) We must look at every Jew with a good eye. Every Jew is assumed to be a G-d fearing person. Even if you see a Jew who is not behaving in accordance with Jewish law, know that you have the ability to speak warm words from your heart which will inspire your fellow Jew to embrace our loving Father In Heaven. 

G-d loves each of His children unconditionally. Share your kindness, knowledge and your enthusiasm for Jewish pride and save lives. Your sharing your Jewish knowledge is needed today more then ever. The world needs you!

יחסים אלגנטיות וספרים

יש סיפור מרתק על המלך ירבעם בן נבט. היסטורית, ירבעם שבר את ממלכת האחדות בישראל לאחר פטירתו של שלמה המלך. ירבעם  ביסס את עצמו כמלך עצמאי והיה חוטא בעצמו והוא גרם לעם היהודי לחטוא. חוטא ומחטיא. 

התלמוד בסנהדרין מספר שהקדוש ברוך הוא תפש את ירבעם בבגדו ונתן לירבעם הצעה מדהימה: "חזור בך -שוב מדרכיך ובוא ונטייל אני ואתה ובן ישי בגן עדן״. 

כששמע ירבעם הצעת הקב״ה שאל : מי יהיה בראש? ה' ענה: "בן ישי - דוד המלך - יהיה בראש". כששמע ירבעם שדוד המלך -בן ישי- יוביל, אמר ירבעם "אם כן אז אני לא רוצה! (אי הכי לא בעינא).

אדמו"ר הזקן מסביר בתורה אור -ויגש- שלירבעם היה חסר "ביטול". שיפלות. כניעה. תחושת ענווה. במקום להתמקד בהצעה המדהימה ובהזדמנות לטייל עם הקדוש ברוך הוא בגן עדן, בחר ירבעם להתמקד ב״מי בראש״! 

"ביטול - כניעה" לאמת האלוקית היא המפתח לחיים מאושרים. בית המקדש בירושלים נבנה מאבן שמקורה באדמה. לא מעץ שגדל גבוה. כי בית המקדש מייצג ומעורר ענווה וכניעה, "ביטול" לאמת עליונה. כשאנחנו מתמקדים באמת, בלי אגו, אנחנו מרוויחים ואנחנו בוחרים בחוכמה. אנו נהנים מהברכות של חיים מאושרים.

התלמוד מציין שירבעם הוא מהיחידים המעטים שאין להם חלק בעולם הבא. לבחירות הדלות של ירבעם בן נבט יש השלכות ארוכות טווח.

הסיפור הזה נותן לנו תובנה שלא יסולא בפז:

בחיים עלינו להיות חכמים ואמיתיים. עלינו להסתכל קדימה ולבחור בחוכמה. במיוחד החלטות המשפיעות על החיים, המשפחה והילדים. רק טיפש אנוכי ונרקיסיסטי, עקשן ואובססיבי לגבי "מי יוביל" -מי בראש- עלול לדחות בטיפשות את ההזדמנויות הטובות ביותר של החיים. הם יכולים לאבד הכל.

כל יהודי יורש ענווה, ביטול וחסד מאבותינו אברהם יצחק ויעקב, אבות האומה. בחר בחוכמה ותשמח, חיים מלאים תוכן וחיים מאושרים!

3 מסרים המבוססים על תורת הרבי:

1) משה רבינו היה הרבי הראשון. נשמת משה היא הצינור דרכו נותן ה' את השפעת כל הברכות, החיוניות והפרנסה. כמו המוח שנותן חיוניות לכל הגוף. כשאנחנו מתחברים למשה, הרבי שבכל דור, אז אנחנו מתחברים לאלוקים.

התלמוד מלמד שה' שם את מהותו בתורה. כך גם לגבי ספרי צדיקים. חייהם ונשמתם נמצאים בספריהם. בכל שנה ביום ה' טבת חוגגים ״ניצחון הספרים -דידן נצח״ בהחלטת בית הדין הפדרלי של ארצות הברית שספריו של הרבי הקודם אינם ספרים פרטיים. דיני הירושה אינם חלים. הרבי והספרים שייכים לחסידים. 

2) אלגנטיות היא כאשר היופי וה"נשמה" של משהו זורחת. לכל דבר בחיים יש מימד "גוף" ומימד "נשמה". חומר וצורה. חסידות חב"ד מאפשרת לך להדגיש את ה"צורה" וה"יופי" בכל דבר, בניגוד לגסות, לגשמיות ולחומריות. חסידות חב"ד משרה הרמוניה בין הגשמי לרוחני. זה עולם אלגנטי אלוקי. "העולם נברא בשבילך"!

3) עלינו להסתכל על כל יהודי בעין טובה. כל יהודי יש לו ״חזקת כשרות״ שכל יהודי הוא ירא אלוקים. גם אם אתה רואה יהודי שאינו מתנהג על פי ההלכה היהודית, דע כי יש לך את היכולת לומר מילים חמות מלבך אשר יעוררו את אחיך היהודי לחבק את אבינו האוהב שבשמים. ה' אוהב את ילדיו ללא תנאי.
