Loyalty Friends & You

Good friends are a gift. To have loyal friends in your life who you can call upon to discuss any issue at any time, while having the confidence that this person will give you their full undivided attention and listen to you fully and always be there for you with full support, is a precious gift. The Mishna encouracous us to acquire a true friend.

True friendship is not built on logic. Because a friendship which is built on logic is only as strong and enduring as the logic is. If the logic collapses, so does the friendship. But when the friendship is built with total loyalty and commitment, then there is no wind in the world which can blow and uproot the friendship. In the classic language of Chabad Chassidus למעלה מטעם ודעת it is a friendship which transcends logic and reason.

In Lekutei Torah - Ki Seitsei- the Alter Rebbe explains that there are prosecuting angels which look to find reasons to prosecute a person who sins.

G-d refused to hear the curses of Bil’am בלעם against the Jewish people because G-d’s love for every Jew is ״למעלה מטעם ודעת״  higher then any logic and reason. Therefore, even when our enemies try to bring up sins or mistakes of the Jewish people, nevertheless, our loving Father in Heaven, ignores the accusations and the prosecution. He transforms the curses into blessings.

The Alter Rebbe points out that the Torah uses a double expression. Two times the name of G-d.  “Because G-d your G-d loves you” כי אהבך ה׳ אלוקיך. The double expression is to emphasize that our loving Father in Heaven loves you personally, אלוקיך, as His personal child. it’s not just that you are part of the greater universe. You as an individual are the pupil of His eye. You personally are His most precious possession. He is your personal G-d. Your Father.

This gives us motivation and inspiration:

During the month of Elul which proceeds the High Holidays, the infinite compassion and mercy of G-d shines brightly. In the words of the Alter Rebbe “the King is in the field” G-d comes to you in your personal “field”, your personal office and home etc. and He greets everybody with a gracious shining face. Despite our past mistakes and sins, nevertheless the “King” of the world transforms the file of the prosecution, ויהפוך ה׳ אלוקיך את הקללה לברכה from “curses into blessings”.

Celebrate the gifts you have and enjoy the infinite love which our loving Father in Heaven has for you personally. Take some time to focus on this concept and you will fill your life with joy, enthusiasm and eternal happiness.

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) When a Jewish couple got married during the times of the Holy Temple located in our beloved city of Jerusalem, the husband was exempt for the first year of marriage from joining the army. Because he had the obligation to “make the heart of his wife happy“ When the husband invests in making his wife’s heart happy then all the blessings follow.

Help young couples put down the foundation of their life during the first year of marriage. Your kindness will help them for their entire life as well as the life of their children and grandchildren. You will be helping generations upon generations to come.

2) Children are priority number one. Never allow other issues to take precedence over children. A child is like a blooming flower, if you nurture it with love and affection, then the child will grow up to be a like a beautiful tree with delicious fruits and beautiful  flowers.

3) We all have an obligation to make sure that every Jew has what they need for the Jewish New Year and all the Holidays. Every Jew deserves the proper daily, Shabbos and Jewish Holidays foods in abundance. Open your heart and your hand and help give your fellow Jew. Give with a Good Eye, abundantly. You will be blessed in return with an abundance of blessings and everything which you are praying for. A new year filled with joy, happiness and the sweetness of life.
