Motivation Energizing & Rosh Hashanah
The feeling of being loved by family and friends is monumental. Without it, the flavor of life seems missing. The feeling of loneliness and the lack of feeling loved is one of the most damaging challenges in todays world. Receiving a smile, a hug or even a genuine kind word, can bring life, joy and immeasurable meaning to a person.
A loving relationship with G-d is a foundation of life. Without it, a mature person feels empty, life doesn’t seem to have depth or meaningful value. Every mature person wonders at times: What is the point of life? What can I do in order to enjoy a life of motivation, purpose and meaning?
In Lekutei Torah - Ki Sovo- the Alter Rebbe gives us tips and tools for a happy life. One of the tools is Prayer With Love, praying with an active feeling of love in your heart. Feeling your love for our Father in Heaven.
The Alter Rebbe explains that a primary key point of Prayer is to feel, understand and internalize that the entire world is in total unity and oneness with G-d. It is not that there are two entities 1) G-d. 2) The world. On the contrary, G-d and world are One. The entire world is exclusively the energy of G-d. The world has no self-independence. Without G-d the world would simply not exist.
The Alter Rebbe points out that this is why our Father Abraham refers to G-d as א-ל עולם, “G-d-World”. Not א-ל העולם G-d of the world. In Abraham’s view, G-d and World are ONE. In total unity and harmony.
Like a sweet fruit which grows on a tree. Although the sweetness comes from the power of the sweet spiritual energy hidden in the earth, nevertheless, the physical sweet fruit does not minimize the sweetness and power of the energy. So too, the Divine energy which animates and gives life to the world, does not diminish the infinite power of G-d.
The physical world does not have any self-existence. It is only a reflection of the Divine light and energy which is giving it life. The existence of the world does not change nor minimize the exclusive true existence of G-d. G-d remains the only true existence. As the prophet says “I am G-d, I did not change”. Our existence is one with G-d.
When sleeping, we can dream and imagine the impossible. We can magine things which contradict the rules of logic. But when we wake up, our thoughts resume being connected to our rational mind. So too when we are spiritually asleep, then despite our love for G-d, we may do things which contradict the rules of logic, we may even choose to sin against G-d. Our mind and emotions can temporarily be disconnected from the truth.
Like a thief who prays to G-d to be successful in his theft, despite his knowing that theft is a sin. His faith in G-d is hovering above him but not penetrating. However, when we spiritually awake and we focus our thoughts in Prayer and we truly connect to G-d, then we can rekindle our love for G-d and we can feel it in our heart. The text of Jewish Prayer, continuously focuses, again and again, on the true reality of life. G-d and our world are One. We are united as one with our Father in Heaven.
Yes. We can awaken and rekindle our joy, faith and love for G-d.
This gives us motivation and inspiration:
Always remember that you inherently love G-d. You are forever the beloved precious child of our loving Father in Heaven. The more you focus on this idea the happier you will be.
Never give up on yourself. Never associate your true identity with mistakes you may have made. You are truly more valuable then you can ever imagine. Your essence is pure, holy and good. You truly love G-d and G-d truly and unconditionally loves you.
As we approach the High-Holidays, celebrate and focus on your unique talents and gifts which G-d gave you for free. Make a structured “time management” schedule and calendar. Maximize your time and your opportunities. Your life is priceless. Allow yourself to enjoy your full potential and give the world the gift of you. Without you the entire world is not complete. In the beginning, G-d created only one human being, because the world was worth creating just for one person.
The entire world is waiting just for you.
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) A Jew knows that wherever one goes, it is all orchestrated from above. It is in order to strengthen Judaism there. Bring the happiness of Torah and Mitzvah to wherever you are. Our father Abraham risked his life in order to publicize the name of G-d wherever he was. You are the grandchild of Abraham, be brave and courageous.
You are a leader, take the initiative and maximize your potential. Invest in refining yourself. A person who is unrefined and low doesn’t feel the gravity of the situation. Be a lamplighter and love every Jew unconditionally. Dedicate time in your daily schedule to volunteer for the benefit of our Jewish brothers and sisters. Help them physically and spiritually. It will bring you happiness and blessings.
2) We pray for children, life and sustenance. בני חיא ומזוני. Judaism prioritizes this order, despite that chronologically life comes first, then sustenance and only after marriage comes children. Judaism is telling us that children are our first and greatest priority. The greatest and most meaningful need of a person is having children.
Heaven forbid if ones children are not behaving properly then one cannot enjoy life and cannot enjoy financial wealth. A person can not enjoy life without first ensuring that one’s children are living a proper Torah life. First focus on the children and then you will be blessed with a good life, a happy life, with an abundance of wealth and sustenance.
3) Rosh Hashanah we celebrate a new year. It is the day when Adam and Eve were created. It is an opportunity for a new beginning. Every year on Rosh Hashanah there is a new energy in the world which was never revealed prior to this point in history.
Inspire everybody in your surroundings to start a new beginning. Never allow any negative or painful past as an excuse to stop you from a new happy beginning. G-d gives you a new beginning every Rosh Hashanah.
Today, perhaps more then ever, the world is craving meaningful happiness and a life filled with purpose. The world is ready for Moshiach. Do not waste your time arguing with people or trying to prove people wrong. Focus on the positive and share the beauty and the joy of Judaism with everyone you know or meet and you’ll suddenly notice that the darkness has vanished on its own. You will automatically rise to a higher level of intelligence, awareness and a life of joy, motivation and celebration.
Wishing you a happy and healthy new year,
Ksivo Vachasimo Tova,
