Motivation Courage & Empowerment
The story of Creation in Genesis is fascinating. Miraculously, out of the earth came living plants, living trees with ready to eat fruits and all living animals. Everything was Created complete, perfect and ready. Ironically, only the human being was created in two stages. Initially G-d formed a lifeless human, just a lump of clay and only later did G-d blow into him a breath of life.
Why did G-d choose to Create the first human, the “Chosen of Creation” בחיר הנבראים in two stages. A lifeless lump of clay seems lower then the live animals and is not complimentary.

The Alter Rebbe asks this question and explains the answer in Lekutei Torah - Breishis- with an analogy.
If you want to lift up an entire building, you must lift it up from the bottom with a lever. This way, when you lift up the bottom of the building, you will lift up the entire building. So too, since only the human being is empowered with a Divine soul in order to spiritually elevate and lift up all of existence, therefore only the human being was initially Created lifeless and from learth, the lowest of the four elements of existence.
Paradoxically, because the human being was Created exclusively from earth, the lowest of all elements, therefore it is only the human being who can raise the entire world from the bottom up. It is the human being who repairs and prepares the world for eternal peace and harmony. Moshiach.

The soul of animals and trees are relatively low levels of holiness. Therefore their body and soul emerged simultaneously as one. However, the soul of a human being is infinitely holy and is much higher then the body, because the soul of a human being is a part of G-d. Therefore, initially, only the body was Created, to emphasize that the body is made of earth, the lowest element and therefore it can elevate the entire world.
Only a human being was Created with two holy names of G-d. As the verse says: ויצר ה׳ אלוקים “Hashem our G-d formed”. The human being has the power to elevate and transform “earth” by infusing it with a consciousness of holiness, purpose and meaning. G-d empowers the human being with unique abilities and potential.
You are chosen and special. You are empowered by G-d to be His partner in Creation. The holy soul of the human being, animates the body and together, body and soul, give the world the gift of achieving it’s purpose. Revealing the goodness and sparks of light which are hidden and trapped within the darkness and challenges of life.
This gives us motivation and inspiration:
You are a gift to the world. You have a holy soul and you are the only Creation who can infuse and uplift all of existence with purpose and holiness. Without you, your personal environment and by extension the world, could have remained in a low state, like a wild jungle. It is you who can choose to transform the world into a Royal Garden and a Royal Home for G-d.
If you ever find yourself in a challenging, dark or painful moment, know that only you can transform this darkness into light, night into day, pain into happiness. Your good deed, your study of Torah, your doing a Mivtzah and your kindness, help heal the world.
You can give the world a hug of love, with a smile, filled with true inner joy and happiness.
You can give the world a hug of love, with a smile, filled with true inner joy and happiness.
The next time you encounter any challenge, remember your power and purpose. You are the reason and purpose of all of Creation. Every moment of your life is rich with meaning. Every good thought or action you take, transforms another chunk of negativity and darkness into positivity and light. Moshiach.
The world needs you. Maximize your goodness and happiness.
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) The first commandant in the Torah is to have children. Every child is a new blessing and a new source of joy and happiness. Financial success is totally in the hands of our loving Father In Heaven. Every new baby opens new channels of blessings. Especially after the Holocaust, it is incumbent upon every Jew to happily establish a large Jewish family.
Encourage your Jewish friends to have more Jewish children. This is a most powerful response of action and strengthens Jewish continuity.
2) Torah and Mitzvah encompass a person from the instant of birth and the emergence from the mother's womb until the final time comes. Torah and Mitzvah place a person in a light-filled situation, with healthy intelligence and the acquisition of excellent moral virtues and upright conduct. Not only in relation to G‑d but also in relation to personal relationships.
For whoever is guided by Torah and the instructions of our sages has a life of good fortune, materially and spiritually.

3) “The way a person positions themselves on “Shabbos Breishis” so will it be the entire year”.
Invest in Shabbos Breishis and you will reap the benefits all year!
Torah-study every day is crucial to life itself. This applies not only to the soul of the one studying but also to the souls of the entire family. Through Torah-study the atmosphere of the home becomes an atmosphere of Torah and piety. A sweet and happy home. Set aside at least a few moments each day to study Torah. You will be happier and you will always continue to grow.
