Happiness Relationships & Simchas Torah

When Moshe ascended Mount Sinai to receive the Torah, the angels of Heaven protested to G-d “What is man that You should remember him”. Man is prone to sin. Therefore the angels demanded that the Torah be given to them. Moshe successfully prevailed and the Torah was given to us, as physical human beings.

In Lekutei Torah -Brochoh- the Alter Rebbe asks, how could the angels have asked for the Torah to be given to them in Heaven, when they knew that the soul of every Jew is higher then the angels?

The Alter Rebbe explains that the angels knew that the soul of a Jew is higher then the angels. But the angels argued that this is true only when the soul of the Jew is in Heaven. However when the Soul of a Jew comes down to earth in a physical body then the Jew sins and his body is spiritually impure. Yet the spiritual body of angels always remains clean from sin.

But the angels were wrong. Since the purpose of the Creation of the world is to make for G-d a “Home in the Lowest World”, דירה בתחתונים, therefore G-d enjoys and chooses to live with us “down here” despite our imperfections and mistakes and He gives the Torah to us. Not to the holy angels.

Every time you do a Mitzvah or study any part of  Torah, you are transforming darkness into light, negative into positive. With each Mitzvah, especially when performed with joy and passion, with each deed of goodness and kindness, you become an active partner in building a beautifully illuminated home and mansion in which our loving Father in Heaven “comes down” to live with you and within you.

For us to do a Mitzvah we must defeat our “Evil Inclination” and we must overcome our selfish desires and our personal struggles. This gives G-d the greatest pleasure and you thereby accomplish His purpose and goal. You actualize His grand plan of all of Creation.

Your Mitzvah sends a powerful and holy “electric shock” which is felt throughout the entire world and throughout the universe and all galaxies. It gives a positive “electrical boost” of purpose and meaning to all of existence.

Your personal Mitzvah and Torah study,  give G-d the gift and pleasure of making His wish a reality!

This gives us motivation and inspiration:

You are the most powerful and meaningful person and leader in your part of the world where  you are the only one who can give G-d His wish and desire. Never underestimate your greatness and beauty. All of Creation and all of history is waiting for you to paint your art. For you to sing your personal song. You are the only one who can produce your personal piece of the cosmic puzzle. Without you we can not accomplish the mission.

The fact that you are living at this moment in history is proof that you are now the one with the winning number. Your body and soul have a most precious and holy gift to offer. If you are ever feeling a bit down, think of all the goodness you can do this moment by happily performing even just one Mitzvah. You are bringing eternal happiness, eternal joy and eternal pleasure to our loving Father.

He is our Father and our King and you are His Royal Prince and Princess!

3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) During the Holiday of Sukkot and the two days of Shmini Atseres and Simchas Torah, G-d distributes  the blessing of Happiness for the entire new year. Every moment you rejoice in the Mitzvah of Yom Tov, every moment you sing and every step you take in dancing in honor of the Holiday and in honor of G-d and His holy beloved Torah, you are bringing to yourself unlimited buckets and barrels of blessings for the entire year.

By dancing, we cause that even our feet and shoes are permeated with Torah. אין עוד מלבדו. King Solomon describes how the Jew is metaphorically the beloved Wife of G-d. Every aspect of our life is lovingly United with our Beloved Husband. Share the joy and rich heritage of the Holiday with our fellow Jewish brothers and sisters. Make a special effort to Invite the young generation. Give children the gift of loving the Torah. Be a living example to children and give them true unconditional love.

2) On Simchas Torah we deliberately dance with closed Torahs. Because the Torah belongs to every Jew. Not only to scholars and Rabbis. The Torah is an inheritance to every Jew. The Torah laws-of-inheritance clearly state “even a fetus in it’s mother’s womb inherits the father’s belongings”. It is not our “knowledge” which gives us our right to the Torah. It is our “Birthright”.

On Simchas Torah we do not dance with an open Torah or focus on the study of Torah. We dance with the closed Torah. We hug the Torah, we kiss the Torah, we express our love for the holy Torah. A closed Torah emphasizes that our connection  to the Torah is a “inheritance” connection. Not a relationship based on “logic or scholarship”. It is unconditional.

3) On Simchas Torah every Jew is called up to the Torah for an Aliya. Even young children younger then Bar Mitzvah. The essence of every Jew is always united as One with G-d. The highest level of the soul is called Yechida יחידה which means One. יחידה ליחדך. Never allow anyone to denigrate or insult  any Jew. Every Jew is the pupil of G-d’s eye.

There are no words to describe the unlimited and unconditional love which our Father in Heaven has for every Jew. On Simchas Torah all Jews dance in the same circle. Everybody is equally important. The more love you show to your fellow Jew, the more you inspire G-d to show extra love to you and He will give you unlimited blessings in all that you need and more happiness.

Wishing you personally Gut Yom Tov, Chag Someach, a Happy Sukkot and a Happy Simchas Torah!
