Healing Relationships & Enjoyment
From early childhood we enjoy playing with building blocks. The pleasure of building new shapes, structures. Without building blocks it is impossible to build. The holy Zohar famously states that G-d created and built the world with ten “building blocks”. Ten attributes, ten instruments with which he created the universe.
In Lekutei Torah -Vayeiro- the Alter Rebbe explains that in order to create the world, G-d first concealed His infinite light. Because the overpowering intensity of the Divine light and energy does not facilitate nor “space” for others. Only post concealment, צמצום, is there a “ empty space” within which we limited, finite and physical beings can be created and exist.
His concealment and withdrawal is what enables our existence. It is what gives us space.
This principle can help us create peace in virtually any situation and resolve day to day conflicts. It can help us ensure successful loving relationships.
A key condition to allow any relationship to happily thrive, is the need to allow both parties to feel respected and comfortable in their own space. Each person needs to feel that the other is not violating their space. A person needs and deserves to be properly respected. Without this basic and fundamental condition, there is no healthy relationship.
When we fix this problem, we can fix every relationship. Paradoxically, the more we limit our own ego and existence, the happier both parties are. Because the pleasure of the relationship is much greater then the requirement of making space for each other. The more you give the more you enjoy!
This gives us motivation and inspiration:
We are living in a paradox. On the one hand we are the generation which will merit to see redemption and Moshiach. On the other hand, the breakdown of relationships in the modern era is an urgent crisis. Many people and especially children are hurting. Let’s all do what G-d did. Let us make space for the other, even it requires self withdrawal. We must remove the ego and allow space for the other person to be and feel respected.
As we stand now on the cusp of redemption and the Rebbe tells us that Moshiach Is On The Way, we must grow and do more goodness and kindness in order to hasten the eternal era of a world of peace, health and happiness. Resolving conflict and disharmony. The negative spiritual forces are looking to delay Moshiach. We must courageously and happily increase peace and harmony.
If you know of a situation of conflict, do your best to help facilitate peace. People become caught up in a conflict and their ego blinds their rational mind. They become cold, narcissistic and stubborn. They don’t think of the destruction pain and damage which they are causing to themselves and their loved ones.
With kindness, warmth and unconditional love, it is easily possible to bring about peace and happiness.
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) You are a gift to the world. You were handpicked by our Father in Heaven to be born at this particular time. Unleash your giant and beautiful soul within you. Do not allow others to stop you from becoming the amazing person you were crated to be. Strengthen your faith and trust in G-d and you will be blessed with success and happiness.
2) Sweetness comes in many forms. A sweet apple, a sweet thought, sweet and pleasant heartfelt music etc. All forms of sweetness come from G-d’s kindness. Be like G-d, be kind, help others and take pleasure in helping your fellow Jewish brothers and sisters. Since we can enjoy a life of holy meaningful sweetness of good deeds, why foolishly waste it on a life of sweet candy?
3) Our father Abraham gave every Jew a rich gift of kindness. Avrohom instills in our DNA a desire to be kind. To help our fellow Jew. The Torah testifies that G-d knows that Avrohom will command his children and generations to come to do justice and righteousness. Never underestimate a Jew.
Every Jew, even if he or she doesn’t seem connected to Jewish practice, nevertheless they fully inherited the DNA of our patriarchs and matriarchs, Avrohom, Yitzchok and Yaakov. Sara, Rivka Rochel and Leah.
Celebrate every Jew with unconditional love and kindness. G-d personally appreciates when you love and are kind to all His children. Love the Jew and G-d will show you extra love and blessings.
