Leadership Action & Joy

Billions of dollars are spent each year by people around the world who are desperately looking for happiness. People are looking for “make me feel good” answers and direction. Yet, despite all the modern new convenience gadgets, amazing technology, people from all walks of life, especially the young generation, are unhappy and searching for a life of meaning and joy.

In Lekutei Torah -Chayei Sara 33- the Alter Rebbe discusses the reason and importance of doing a Mitzvah and good deeds. The Alter Rebbe presents two opposing approaches. Two opposing schools of thought.

1) The primary goal and purpose of life is to achieve a passion for G-d and a good feeling in the heart. The Mitzvah and the good deeds are only tools which help us serve G-d with passion in our heart and feel joy.

2) The primary goal and purpose of life is the action itself. To do the good deed. To do the Mitzvah. The good feelings and passion of the heart are only a tool which helps inspire a person to do the Mitzvah.

The Alter Rebbe concludes and makes a clear, unequivocal and empowering statement: Not like the mistake of the prevailing world-perspective that the passion and good feelings of the heart are the primary goal. Rather, the primary goal is the action and the performance of the Mitzvah and the good deed. The passion and the good feelings of the heart are only a tool which helps inspire us to perform the Mitzvah, like a bird’s wings which help a bird rise and fly.

This idea of the Alter Rebbe can help our generation find the clear path to a happy life. To use a bit of poetic license: Ask not what can I do to make me happy, ask which Mitzvah can I do to serve G-d and you will automatically be happy.

When we live a life filled with daily good deeds and accomplishments, then and only then, can we truly feel good about our selves and we can enjoy lasting happiness. The more Mitzvah’s, the more goodness and kindness we do, the happier we will be.

We must inspire the young generation to serve and help
others. To not be self centered. To rise higher and free themselves from self pitty and self absorption. Paradoxically, when we give from ourselves, we feel happy. If we constantly focus on our selfish desires, then the more we have the more we want. Giving and serving is the secret to contentment, fulfillment and happiness. The more a mother gives the happier she is.

Torah and Judaism are the greatest gift. It gives us purpose and validation. Just like our body yearns for physical food and nourishment, so too does our soul yearn for spiritual nourishment. We must ask ourselves, perhaps we are taking care of our body, but who is taking care of our soul? Happiness is primarily a soul oriented experience. Nourish your body and nourish your soul and you will be healthy and happy.

It is thanks to the Rebbe and his more then 5000 Shluchim and emissaries in every corner of the world, that the light of Torah and Mitzvah is shining brightly today around the globe. Souls around the world are reconnecting and thriving. Never in history was there any leader who personally transformed every corner of the globe like the Rebbe and his Shluchim - Emissaries. 3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:

1) The ultimate level of being a Shliach and Emissary of the Rebbe, is not by squashing or dismissing your own G-d given talents and to just dedicate yourself to a higher cause. On the contrary. The highest level of a Shliach - Emissary is to utilize and maximize your G-d given talents in order to achieve the goal and vision of the Rebbe. Transforming the world into a Royal Home and Garden for our beloved Father in Heaven.

The numerical value of the Hebrew word Shliach - Emissary is 348. The numerical value of the Hebrew word Moshiach is 358.

When you maximize your ten faculties and attributes, עשר כוחות הנפש,  in order to fulfill your mission as a Shliach - Emissary, then your 10 attributes and strengths, elevate you from 348 and you reach 358. You reveal the spark of Moshiach within yourself and you help hasten the happy eternal era of Moshiach for the entire world.

2) The name and word Adam means human. When Adam and Eve sinned and ate from the Tree of Knowledge, G-d said Adam where are you? The Alter Rebbe explains: When a person sins, G-d asks: אדם איכה. Where is the human within you.

Every human being has freedom of choice. One can be born as a human being but choose to behave like an animal, or choose to highlight their humanity. The inner beauty of a person is their soul, their good character.  A human being iscreated in the image of G-d and each person has the ability to reflect G-d. To be a walking ambassador of goodness, faith and values.

We can all help bring the light, beauty and teachings of G-d to all of humanity. We must share the wisdom and knowledge of the 7 Noahide laws, שבע מצוות בני נח. The world is ready to listen to a message of values, clarity and a guiding light to live a life of purpose and meaning. Share your knowledge with humanity, regardless of race, color or creed. You can help illuminate your surroundings and your share of the world with goodness, joy and purpose.

3) When a person wants to achieve greatness it requires elevating yourself to a higher level of existence. To leave our comfort zone. In our generation, the Rebbe gives each person the gift and opportunity to be the Rebbe's Shliach and representative.

You can rise and unite with the Rebbe and his vision. You can help free the world from all darkness, sadness and pain. You can hasten the era of eternal peace and joy with the coming of Moshiach Now.

When you bring the light of Torah and Mitzvah, goodness and kindness, to every situation, then you transform your own limited existence. You can join the Rebbe and become an eternal partner with the Creator and successfully achieve the cosmic plan of Creation. Your dedication and participation will  benefit of all of humanity.

Choose a life of leadership and true eternal greatness!
