Pleasure Shabbat & Children
Artist enjoy their work primarily after the painting is completed. During the tedious work of painting, the artist is investing their talent and energy into the painting. It is only after the completion of the painting when the artist can relax and enjoy the work invested in the painting.
In Torah Or -Terumah- the Alter Rebbe explains the beauty, holiness and pleasure of Shabbos. The Alter Rebbe asks: How can we, today, call Shabbos the 7th day, when in reality tens of thousands of days have past since the first Shabbos of Creation?
The Alter Rebbe explains that the Six days of the week correspond to the Six attributes of Divine energies with which the world was created. On the 7th day of Shabbos, the world was complete so the Divine energies returned to their source.
In this sense Shabbos is eternally the 7th day. Because it follows the “six days” which correspond to the six Divine attributes - tools of Creation.
Shabbos is inherently the 7th. It’s not just a number on the calander. Shabbos is the 7th level of holiness. In Chassidus and Kabbalah this holy level is known as Royalty. Malchus. Kingship. Like the moon which reflects the sun. So does Shabbos reflect and elevate all of work of the six days of the week. עונג קרא ליום השבת. Shabbos is inherently the day of true pleasure.
Like an artist or a teacher who after completing their job, can now relax and rest. They stop investing their energy in something outside of themselves. Their talents are returned to their inner self. In modern vernacular they are no longer in a state of “output”.
This is the deeper meaning of G-d resting on Shabbos. He wasn’t tired. He didn’t need a resting period. This is a much higher level or rest. A level and state were the individual is free to be themselves without “output”. They can relax and enjoy the pleasure of their efforts.

The Alter Rebbe explains that this is why in the Friday night prayer we say ״קונה שמים וארץ״ He acquires Heaven and Earth. First one must pay for the product and only afterwards does the purchaser acquire ownership. So too does G-d acquire on Shabbos all the prayers and all the good deeds and good energies which we accomplished for Him during the week.
On Shabbos the world enters a state of “private property”. Royal intimacy. Everything is in the domain of the Creator. This is why Judaism insists on “resting” on Shabbos. No creative work is permissible. This would violate and insult the beauty and holiness of Divine “private property”. On Shabbos every living being, sings the praises, ownerships and Kingdom of the Master of the universe.

In a special encouragement to those who are in the workforce and are not full time Torah students, the Alter Rebbe employs the example of a kiss.
When a person is separated from a loved one and is then reunited, there is a special intensity in the love which cannot be expressed in words. Words are limited. This deep love can only be expressed with a kiss. So too, by people who work for a living but dedicate some time to Torah study and good deeds. G-d has a special love for them. The love of a kiss.

This gives us motivation and inspiration:
Every good deed you do is greatly appreciated by G-d. This is the pleasure which G-d desired when He Created the world. Every time you do a Mitzvah, every time you give up a little bit of yourself and you sacrifice your own desires for G-d, you are giving G-d an eternal gift. You are willingly transferring ownership from yourself to G-d. To His exclusive domain. It becomes His “private property”.
With your every good deed, with your every moment of Torah study, you are gifting and relinquishing your ownership possession and giving our Father in Heaven a gift, a pleasure, a smile.
1951, Yud Shvat the Rebbe publically stated in his inaugural address, that we are the 7th generation of the Alter Rebbe. So our generation in a sense is like the Holy Shabbos.
We are the ones who will complete the full transfer and full ownership of all of Creation to G-d and we will be the ones to merit to bring global healing, peace and unity. שכינה למטה. We bring about the Divine presence for the whole world to see. We will sing and dance and eternally enjoy the knowledge of the Creator.
Moshiach Is On His Way. You can cause this eternal happiness to arrive sooner by sanctifying your personal moments of Shabbos.

It’s almost Shabbos which is like Moshiach. יום שכולו שבת. The eternal day of Shabbos. The world is waiting for your kiss of love!
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) You have your own personal private moments of “Shabbos”. Every time you bring even just a little light and peace into the world, you create a “Shabbos moment”. יום שכולו שבת. Become an eternal partner with our loving Father in Heaven. Before Shabbos we light candles in order to help bring peace at home. A peaceful Shabbos with no anger etc. You can sanctify and transform any moment of your week into a “Shabbos moment”.
2) Purim is synonymous with joy and happiness. Jewish people have the ability and power to transform negative into a positive, darkness into light, challenge into celebration. Never be afraid of your Jewish pride abd identity. We must learn from Mordechai and Esther how to courageously be proud Jews and always keep our unshakable faith and trust in our loving Father in Heaven.
3) Children are the most precious gift and blessing in life. Some unfortunately take children for granted. Do all you can so every child is given the love they rightfully deserve. People with twisted unhealthy priorities, tragecilly put themselves even before their own children.
We are each the beloved child of G-d. Be a loving guardian to children around the world and help ensure that every child is given the unconditional love they deserve.
