The heart is a miraculous creation. It’s four chambers, valves and oxygenation system, facilitate the gift of life.
The heart has a pulse and a resting heartbeat. A give and take, a stop and go rhythm. A diastolic and a systolic. Paradoxically, It is the moment of the stop, pause, which enables the heart to then pump and circulate the newly oxygenated blood which brings life and vitality to the entire body.

In Torah Or -Vayakhel- the Alter Rebbe explains that G-d is our heart. It is our patriarchs who are the נדיבי לב, the ones who deliver the energy and blessings of the “Divine Heart” to the world. Our holy patriarchs are the ones who make G-d personal to each of us.
It is the giving and kindness of our father Abraham which blesses the heart to pump, systolic. This circulates Dvine vitality and life to the each person and to the world. It is the energy of our father Isaac, awe and withdrawal, which causes the spiritual resting heartbeat. The “stop and pause” diastolic. אלוקי אברהם and אלוקי יצחק. The G-d of Abraham and Isaac becomes our personal G-d and He gives each of us the gift of life. אלוקי. My personal G-d.
Paradoxically, it is the ביטול - surrender of the resting heartbeat, which then facilitates the pumping of fresh vitalizing blood to the entire body. Without the stop there is no go. First we eat the humble Matzah of Passover and only then do we celebrate the giving of the Ten Commandments.
King Solomon says והחיות רצוא ושוב. The spiritual energies “go and return”. Chassidus and Kabbalah explain that this refers to the synchronization of the heart’s pulse which is the flow and pumping of of the systolic and then the resting heartbeat, the diastolic, which is the return. Stop and pause.
The desire of רצוא “Rotzu” is to climb higher and pulsate. The desire of שוב “Shuv” is the ביטול, “Bitul” and surrender, to stop and pause. To remain here and focus on where you are and fulfil the mission and purpose of life.

In order to live a meaningful life, we need both. We must strive to reach the spiritual Heaven. But we must remember that In order to live meaningfully we need the Bitul to surrender and pause. We must fulfill our personal mission to fix and repair our place in our physical world.
This gives us motivation and inspiration:
Life is a precious gift. Every moment has a purpose.
We live in a dichotomy. We yearn to reach the heavens yet we must remember that our mission and purpose is to transform our physical life. To make our physical world a home and Royal Garden for our loving Father In Heaven.

Challenges are part of life. We must celebrate every moment of life. We can transform challenges into growth. We never loose hope. We know that every part of the rhythm of life is for a purpose.
A healthy heart must have a pulse as well as a resting heartbeat. We aspire to always reach higher. But we also pause, maximize and celebrate the current moment. The here and now.

Enjoy every moment of life. The pauses of life are part of having a healthy heart with a healthy resting heartbeat.
Life is a pulsating heart. Celebrate every aspect!
3 messages based on the teachings of the Rebbe:
1) it is common for people to have moments of spiritual ups and downs. We must always remember to focus on the goal. We must not allow the negativity to bring us down.
Despair brings a person down, so don’t focus on negativity and past mistakes. Every day of life is compared to a garment. If we miss fulfilling our mission even one day then we are missing one of our spiritual clothing. Live with positivity and maximize each moment.

2) Family life is the primary gift and priority of life. Everything a person has is a byproduct of the way a person treats and respects family life. Health, good children, happiness, financial success, good friends and all the blessings of life, all depend on how you appreciate, respect and cherish family life.
Throughout the ages we have seen that family life is our corner stone and our foundation. Be smart and wise and invest in your family life, because everything you have and want depends on it.

3) The Mishna teaches us that a wise person learns from every human being. Our sages knew that people have imperfections and shortcomings. Yet they taught us to look at every person with a good eye. To see the positive in every person and not to focus on the negative imperfections. Nobody is perfect.
You have your own imperfections yet you have an unconditional love for yourself. See every person with the same good eye and unconditional love as you see yourself. This will bring you lasting joy and happiness.
